About Nest: a safer way to find a home in Bali
Last updated:
Nest is a property app for Bali: long-term rentals, homes and land, in one place. We built it because finding a home here too often means scrolling Facebook groups, chasing people in private chats and hoping the person on the other end is who they say they are.
Why we built Nest
Looking for a long-term rental in Bali usually starts in a group or a chat. Listings are reposted, prices change from one message to the next, and there is little to tell you whether the person offering a villa actually has it to offer. Many renters only find out after they have paid.
We wanted a place where the basics are settled before you even send a message: who you are talking to, where the home is, and what you can do if something looks wrong.
How Nest works
- Every listing creator verifies their ID. A listing on Nest is only shown to others once the person or agency behind it has verified their identity, with a KTP or passport photo and a selfie, through our verification partner Didit. Verification confirms who the person is, not that they own the property, so always check the documents before you pay.
- Every listing sits on a map. You see where a home is before you ask about it, and you can browse the whole island on one map or open an area page, such as long-term rentals in Canggu, with that area's typical monthly and yearly rents.
- Anyone can report a listing in one tap. Every listing has a report button, for example when someone asks you to pay before a viewing or a contract. Reports are not shared with the owner, and our team reviews them.
- We don't take your money. Nest doesn't process payments: you agree and pay rent and deposits directly with the owner or agent, and renters pay no booking or service fees.
- One property, one page. When several agents list the same property, Nest shows it once, with each agent and their price.
- Alerts instead of endless scrolling. Save a search and turn on alerts: the Nest app sends you a daily alert when a new listing matches.
Who Nest is for
People looking for a long-term rental, a home or land in Bali, and the owners and agents who want to reach them without competing in crowded groups. Nest is in English and Indonesian, on the web and in the Android app.
Guides from the Nest team
Our guides cover the questions we hear most: how rental scams work, what long-term rent costs in each area, what to check in a contract and what to know before buying land. Each guide links its sources.
