Villas for Rent in Ubud

Ubud sits inland in the hills of central Bali, and living here feels very different from the coast. Instead of surf and beach clubs, daily life is shaped by rice terraces, river valleys, jungle and a strong arts and culture scene. Ubud is known for yoga, meditation and wellness, for traditional dance and crafts, and for a large community of artists, healers and long-term residents who came for the atmosphere and stayed.

The town centre is lively and can get crowded, while the villages around it are much calmer and greener. Many long-term renters choose a villa just outside the centre and ride in for cafés, markets, classes and errands. Most people use a scooter or car, as the hilly roads and uneven pavements make walking longer distances hard work. There is no beach nearby, which suits those who prefer forest walks to the sea.

The climate is a little cooler than on the coast, especially in the evenings, but it is also wetter and more humid. In the rainy season, damp and mould can become an issue, so check the ventilation, how well bedrooms close up, and whether there is air conditioning or a dehumidifier. Ask, too, what the monthly or yearly rent includes. Nest Bali lets you filter Ubud listings from owners and agents and ask them about these details before a viewing.
